About Us

Our Commitment

Serendib International Cricket Academy (SICA) was founded in 2013, by two professional individuals who had a vision to develop an internationally recognized cricket academy in Gampaha, the 2nd largest city in Sri Lanka. It has state of the art facilities that provide a high-performance coaching that not only caters for local cricketers, but also for cricketers from around the world. All the SICA Coaches are fully qualified with ICC Global Level 3, Australian Level 2, ICC level 1 and Sri Lanka Cricket Level 1 to provide the finest coaching programs designed from junior to elite levels. We believe that every cricketer got natural talent in their genes that can only be discovered and nurtured with mindful cricket coaching, which is appropriate for each age limit and skill level. SICA was founded to discover and develop this talent by providing professional coaching for individual cricketers, teams, and coaches of various ages and experience levels, which includes women cricketers through ‘Serendib Girls’ program.

SICA was founded by Tharaka Samarathunga and Adheesha Salpitikorala; two well-known professionals in cricket coaching and business administrationin 2013. They had a vision to develop an internationally recognized cricket academy in Gampaha, which is the 2nd largest city in Sri Lanka. All the SICA Coaches are fully qualified with ICC Global level 3, Australian Level 2, ICC level 1 and Sri Lanka Cricket Level 1 to provide the finest coaching programs designed from junior to elite levels.

Adheesha Salpitikorala

Founder / Director

Studied at Nalanada Collage Colombo, he has been a member of Under 13 & 15 Cricket Teams, Champaign Athlete for age groups of 14,15,16,17 & 19 continuously, Captain of the Collage Under 19 Basket Ball team, Member of the Collage Cadet Platoon & Founding Executive Committee Member of the Collage Rifle Shooting Association throughout his collage career. He has also won the National Survivor Championship “Kit Challenge” in 2002 and became the Best Performer of the full series. By profession he is a Banker with local and international experience post engaged in working as the chief Operating Officer for a Singaporean venture. He is a professional Leadership & Personality building trainer who involved in developing the outbound training culture in the corporate segment in Sri Lanka. Adheesha holds a MBA specialized in Finance from University of Wales England.

Chandana Indika

Head Coach
Studied at Richmond College Galle & represented the school’s cricket teams starting for Under 13 to the collage first 11 Team continuously till 1994. Then he became a member of the United Southern cricket club (1992-1994) and Singha Cricket club, Ambalangoda (1994-1996). There after he represented Gold Smith cricket club, Doha Qatar (1996-2002) & Lanka Lions cricket club, UAE (2002-2009) at international club level tournements. He started his coaching career with Desert Cubs Cricket Academy, Dubai, UAE in 2009 and have completed Asian Cricket Council level “0” (ACC) in 2010 at Sharjah, Asian Cricket Council Level “1” (ACC) in 2012 at U.A.E, ICC Global Cricket Academy Level “1” (ICC) in 2012 in Dubai and Asian Cricket Council Level “2” (ACC) in 2014 at Lahore, Pakistan. He also has the certification for successfully completing the First Aid Course conducted by First Aid International, Dubai, UAE. Currently he Heads the coaching teams of Serendib International Cricket Academy’s Galle Branch and Gampaha delivering all coaching programs at every age level.

Prageeth Nishantha

Senior Coach
Studied at Thurstan College, Colombo & represented the collage cricket teams starting for under 13 to collage first 11 team as well as the Gampaha District School Cricket Team & the Western Province Teams at National tournaments organized by Sri Lanka Cricket. He also has represented Sinha Sports Club at first class cricket. He is qualified Coaching Level 1 and 2 of Sri Lanka Cricket. In addition, he is a certified Ayurvedic Sport Massage Therapist. He has hold many coaching roles at first class level with Baduraliya Cricket Club, Kalutara Town Club and Ragama Cricket Club to name a few. Currently he is coaching at De Mazenod College Cricket Academy and St. Thomas College, Ja Ela.

Prasadini Weerakkody

Senior Coach
Studied at Hanwella Rajasinghe Central College, where she began her cricketing career at Nittambuwa Ladies Cricket Club and Colombo Colts Cricket club. From 2008 onwards, she has been representing Sri Lanka National women’s team. Currently she is a contracted women cricket player at Sri Lanka Cricket and Navy Cricket Club. She has played 45 One Day Internationals and 26 T20 internationals representing Sri Lanka at four world cup tournaments. In 2017, she won the “Best T20 batswomen” and “Best 50 over batswomen” at National Dialog awards for her performances at the provincial tournament. She was the vice-captain of the National women cricket team from 2016 to 2017 and was the captain of the provincial women team in 2009, 2015, 2016. She has completed Sri Lanka Cricket Coaching level I and currently sharing her knowledge and experiences with Serendib International cricket academy with the ambition of being a good ladies cricket coach at national level.

Mahesh Ruwan Angammana

Senior Coach
Studied at Sri Dharmaloka College, Kelaniya & has represented the school’s under 19 Cricket Team from 2000 to 2002. He also played club cricket for Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC), All Star Cricket Club and Anylates Cricket Club during 2006 to 2013. He stated his coaching career with Seredib International Cricket Academy since 2015 and got qualified as a Sri Lanka Cricket Level 1 Coach in the same year. Then he was contracted as the First 11 coach for Jayakody Central College, Kadawatha in 2016. Currently he is the coaching for Thakshila Central Collage Gampaha and Kadawatha Sports Club.

Sudesh Hemantha

Senior Coach
Studied at Bandarawatta Parakrama College, Gampaha, & represented the college in cricket at every age group, while captaining the teams to many victories. He is a Sri Lanka Cricket Level 1 coach, who has coached junior teams at Wesley College, Colombo, Bandarawatta Parakrama College, Gampaha and Christ King college, Weliweriya, where he has taken the teams to several all island championships. He joined Serendib International Cricket Academy as a junior coach and currently heads the junior coaching team.

Duminda Indika

Junior Coach
Studied in Kegalu vidyalaya, kegalle, Duminda has represented the school under 15 cricket team. He was selected to Wayamba University in 2006 where he played as the vice-captain for the University Team won the university colors in 2009. Also, he has been the volunteer coach for the university cricket team where he started his coaching career. He has played for Division III cricket tournaments till 2010. He is also involved with other sports such as, elle, hokey, football, baseball, athletics, etc., at university level. Further, he has won Sampath bank colors for Excellency in football at mercantile level performance in year 2014. And also completed Sri Lanka cricket level 1 coach certification in 2017. Currently working at Sampath bank in the executive capacity.

Asela Sampath Galappatti

Junior Coach
Studied at Jayakody Central College, Ganemulla represented the school cricket teams from under 13 to First 11 and lead the teams at each age group. He played club cricket for Kadawatha Sports Club and Police sports club at Premier Level. He is also the assistant coach of his own school and presently coaching in Serendib Iinternational Cricket Academy as a Junior coach since December 2016.

Maheshika Ranasinghe

Junior Coach / Analyst
Studied at Holy Cross College Gampaha, who has all island school colours & been the School Games Captain in 2006 to 2007. In 2008, she was selected to Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka for following Bsc. (special) Sports Science and Management degree which she specialized both Athletic and Cricket in the final year (2013). During this time, she won University Colours which helped her to begin her professional life as physical education teacher in Sanghabodhi College Nittambuwa in 2014. She represented Nittambuwa Ladies Cricket Club since 2013 & became a member of the team who won Muraly Harmony Championship twice. Currently she is following the Postgraduate Diploma in education at University of Colombo and joined Serandib cricket family as an analyst. She is hoping to complete her higher education in sports science & ambitious to be a cricket analyst at National women’s Level.

Kasun Thumbovilage

Manager Administration & Digital Media
Studied in Ananda College Colombo, & holds a Diploma in Computer System Design from NIBM Colombo and Professional Qualification in HRM – Stage 1 from IPM Colombo. He has well 8+ experiences in the fields of HR and Administration, Transport and Logistics Management, Training and Development & Event Management. Currently overlooking the Business Promotion and Social Media campaigns of Serendib International Cricket Academy.
